A statement from Colin Sproul

Colin was our candidate in the 2017 election, finishing second.

I’d like to sincerely thank everyone for the amazing support I’ve received in the election campaign. I had the privilege to meet thousands of people from all over Annapolis County. They were so kind to me and opened their doors and their hearts. They invited me into their kitchens and into their lives and shared what matters most to each of them. I don’t take this for granted, it was really special to me that so many were willing to share their stories.

While we didn’t get the result that we’d hoped for, all of the members of our campaign team can hold their heads up knowing they put forth a tremendous effort. I’m so proud of them for bringing the Annapolis NDP to the place that it now sits. So many people are thinking objectively and realize that things can and will get better for everyone who lives here.

We received donations, sign requests, encouragement and votes from every corner of this county. Especially important to me, our signs were placed in yards from all walks of life. Citizens at both ends of the economic scale looked to us to represent their interests and beliefs. Equally significant were the many people who set aside generations of family politics to place their trust in me, this was so humbling and something I’ll never forget.

I want you all to know that I’m not going anywhere. I’ll still be here in Annapolis County everyday. I’ll be watching what’s taking place in our forests and what’s happening to our oceans. I’ll be talking to our teachers and nurses and seniors about their concerns. I’ll be reaching out to regular people in our communities who need a little help for a better life.

I’d like to congratulate the Premier on his victory and all of the other candidates for the hard work put into their campaigns. They all deserve credit for putting themselves out there and contributing to our democracy.

Most of all I want to thank each of the outstanding volunteers and donors to this campaign and families who took our signs. None of it would have been possible without you. All of you went above and beyond for me and the NSNDP. Some of you are the oldest of friends and some of you are the newest of friends. Know this, you all have a special place in my heart and I’ll never forget each of your contributions. I believe that people like you will advance social democracy in Annapolis County and we will have representation for regular people in the future. Thank you.
